Your words are flowing over me in a waterfall of wild delight
Having written songs throughout my life and performed in Europe as the singer and primary songwriter in the band Red Gold for over a decade I have now turned to working on my debut releases as a solo artist.
I had piano lessons as a child and although I didn't practice it gave me a good grounding in music and I've picked it up again as an adult. I also had trumpet lessons and played in the school orchestra. I learnt to play the guitar, my first love, a little later in life and now I hardly go anywhere without it.
My first release was ‘A Few Lines’ in June of 2021 with ‘You Are The Flower' being my latest release, due out on November 14th.
My debut album 'Tainted Souls' was released last year and my 2nd album 'Honesty & Innocence' has just been released on Bandcamp. Work has already started on my next album so hopefully that will be ready by next summer.
Most of my songs reflect on my life, the people in it, things I've experienced and places I've been. Influenced by Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, David Grey and Jack Johnson you'll find pop, country, folk and rock influences in my songs and often an unexpected twist in the production. As part of a musical family my daughter Gwyneth often appears on my recordings as a female vocalist and supports me in my writing.
As well as creating music, I've also started creating my own original artwork using acrylic, water colour, ink, pencil and charcoal, sometimes mixing media. On this picture, for For Another Day, I used acrylic paint on a 80cm x 60cm canvas. Listen to the song whilst looking at the picture, you'll see every verse!
With the new album coming out I've got to get on with the paintings for the single releases. It'll be challenging, but enjoyable.
I've also started the first draft of my book 'Olivia ... the spirit of freedom' detailing our voyage in the summer. I've got several other book ideas ranging from one written from the weird and wonderful dreams that I have to a semi fictional, semi autobiographical life story and a few things in between, so with songwriting and recording, painting and book writing I won't have time to get bored!
